This chess table and set was purchased in an "Unclaimed Freight Auction" and comes from California. The walnut (believed) veneer table measures 27" square, about 21" high and has a marble top.The table has a single drawer door with a large brass plate.
The chess board and pieces are of wood. The carved pieces range from nearly 8" for the King and nearly 4" for the pawns. It is estimated to be from the 1940-50's. Great piece for a true chess player or kibitzer!
